Hi, I’m Amber! I’ve been an EDK student for 3 years and I’m also a proud EDK certified Instructor!
So WHY did I choose EDK?
Just a few years ago, I was in a very unmotivated place and I let fear prevent me from trying new things. It was the moment I stepped on the scale (at my heaviest) that I was faced with two options: 1) I continue to be complacent, unhealthy and unhappy; or 2) I stop letting the gripping fear of the unknown with fitness and a lifestyle change hold me back any longer. I knew what I needed to do and I finally said, “No more excuses!” I signed up and tried a kettlebell class with EDK for the first time. The class was the hardest thing I’ve ever done, BUT instead of feeling discouraged, a wave of determination came over me to not give up! I felt empowered by my strength and motivated to improve.
What really sealed the deal? My steady results! I felt muscles I didn’t know existed and saw definition all over. I had to continue to trust the process and be patient with my progress. That progress has brought me to where I am today – energized, happier, feeling lighter (over 35 pounds lost!), and stronger. I can easily overhead press more than the weight I’ve lost with a kettlebell and deadlift 175lbs with a barbell. What I lost in extra weight, I gained much more physically and mentally. On top of it all, I pursued, trained (for months!!) and ACHIEVED my StrongFirst Level One Kettlebell certification this April in Chicago at the Dome of Strength – a feat I never thought I was capable of three years ago! When you invest in yourself, trust the process and GO FOR IT – you will be rewarded.
If you are reading this and feel unsure about kettlebells and strength training, I know how you feel...I was in your shoes! Kettlebell training may seem complicated or unnatural initially, but with dedication to learning and practice, you will be amazed at what you WILL accomplish. You will be motivated by fellow students, your own strength, become hooked and love your results!
I'm so grateful for the opportunity to instruct and continue learning under Coach Ericka, growing into my own as an EDK instructor. I take the skills I've learned as an EDK student and offer classes in a welcoming, challenging, and fun environment. You will learn basic kettlebell skills – feeling confident and comfortable, while putting in your best effort. Simple, not easy! We're challenging our bodies and our minds and feel GREAT about it. All you need is one tool (a kettlebell) to transform your life, like it did mine.
I believe in the values of EDK Training and most importantly – taking care of yourself. Let me be your instructor, your motivator and ultimate supporter. The hardest part is starting, but you've got this and I’m here to guide you.
